Can someone explain this design to me? Please?
Under the heading of "what WERE they thinking?" I found this photo this morning from a 20FB ad. Really? A bathroom window over the toilet at waist-level?

Thinking the same thing!
Every time I go to the Head in our FC23 I ask the same question...and wonder who might be watching....

The Reflectix product does wonders for reflecting heat, cold and visibility. It is even color coordinated as well. Makes for an easy project and we all need those. Pat

It appears from the photograph that the shade does cover both windows as the plastic shade clip in below the lower window.
I also find this feature a little strange. I cannot think of any legitimate reason to have these two windows over the toilet. it seems to me that the money spent on these windows could have gone to a much more desirable feature.
You have to remember that many of the RV designers and corporate management have never used an RV.

I guess that because you cannot see in during the day and at night you draw the blind the idea was to provide more "Day Light". Besides we camp mostly boondocking so privacy is not an issue.

Moon River...
This AS feature was built in case you want to "moon" your neighbor. The AS folks think of everything.

We have the 2019 GT and we have NO window in the bathroom at all. While I think the waist high window is a bit exposing...you can cover it with obscuring film or reflective material. During the day, our bathroom is so dark you either have to turn the lights on or leave the door open. We are actually going to add another window or two over the sink to dispel the gloom...we won't go that low, though!

Yes, the shades cover both windows
We have a 20', and yes, the shade covers both windows. We almost never open the shade. It is a bit of an odd design. The other issue is that condensation from the shower can build up on the inside molding around the window. I've calked the edges to try to prevent moisture from getting inside the walls. I suppose that would be a problem no matter what window you use.
The only reason I can see is to let people in the campground determine which model they are looking at.

Yes.
I believe most of the responses to your question are missing the point and the larger picture.
Of course there are a variety of ways to fix this mere manifestation of the real problem.
The larger picture, the point, the real problem is that you should have to fix this problem at all.
Or, to state the obvious, putting a window in the bathroom in this location is boneheaded. The very fact that airstream would choose to design and install a window in this location calls into question their sanity and their common sense. Once you call into question common sense, It leads to a host of other questions and doubt in the ability of any company, airstream in this case, to have common sense in designing anything.
That is the point.
(And, it grieves me to say, there are many long time airstream owners and readers of this forum who could undoubtably give examples of other boneheaded design decisions evident in various trailers throughout the years)
But if there is anyone out there on the inner pipes that disagrees and would put forth an argument why a window in this location is not boneheaded, please, by all means, state your case. I would love to hear this.

I had a window in my 89 classic and really wanted to cover it with reflective film.
My 96 does not have a window and I miss it! So dark you need a light just to find the soap dish.
Not sure the lower window is needed but daylight is a bonus in my book

It is probably not by design, but rather by neglect. They seem to build the shell first, the same regardless of the interior layout. The bathroom just happened to be where the window was already.

And then they would have the big problem of “unseeing” what they saw.
