Camping spot for Ottawa ON Canada

We are looking ahead to Canada's 150th birthday bash in Ottawa ON. We just purchased a 2012 AS 25 FC and have yet to book a trip. Next summer we want to go to Ottawa, stay close to the city , be able to ride our bikes from the RV camp site and tour Ottawa on bikes. We can ride 20 kms or so one way, but would like to be able to ride nice paths or roads. Can anyone suggest a nice camp spot. Thanks

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase. There really is only one campground that will offer what you are looking for (afaik) and that's the Wesley Clover Parks Campground on Corkstown Road out in Kanata. We stayed there for a week this fall, a little but noisy with the traffic from the 417 but pleasant.
We may see you there as we are hoping to be in Ottawa for Canada Day this year.

We stayed at the Hither Hills campground south of Ottawa. Nice folks. I think it is in your range.

We stayed at the historic Richmond Fairgrounds last September for a WBCCI Rally. About 35 km south of Ottawa city centre. The GM would be happy to have any Airstreamer stay. Inexpensive. Water and 15 amp power. Dump station at the fairground.

You could drive in part way with your bikes and cycle the rest of the way.

Bike Paths

Here is a link to the National Capital Commission website with information on bike paths.

Based on discussions I have read on the internet, I think it would be wise to book soon and to expect premium rates. But you never know so monitor different official websites.

You may have to camp further out of town than you would like and commute to parking lots from where you could bike.

hi from a guy in Ottawa
you need to book into Weslay Clover park. End of story! It is close to the main highway to Ottawa and they have a shuttle to downtown atractions. Skip the rest and book a spot there. Power and water and a good dump site. call in early May and make a reservation or call now and leave a voice mail. It is what you want. We live in Ottawa and it is where we go for our spring shake down with the A/S group.
Get er dun and have some fun. We will be out of town for that weekend!
All the best
(we are actually in Baja Mexico now................ but)

Ottawa 2017

Hi,we have stayed at a few camp grounds in ottawa region. The last one we visited this past summer was https://www.sleepycedarsfamilycamping.ca/address/ This was by far the nicest one that we have stayed at and we plan to always return here when visiting our daughter. Its 30km from the parliament of Canada but most of the bike ride could be following the rideau river.
We may see you there! You just gave us the idea!
