Best for 4 people

First time on the forum. We have recently bought an 18 ft travel trailer but now want to buy an Airstream that will sleep 4 adults comfortably. We like the 22FB sport because of its size and affordability. Our TV is a 2016 MB 350 GLE diesel which can pull 7200 lbs but I don't want to pull that much weight. I have looked at AS floor plans but your experience is needed. I prefer 23 ft. or less, no more. Please offer your suggestions

I can tell you our experience this summer with our 22 FB.

Usually we use it for the 2 of us and it's perfect.

On several occasions our adult daughter who lives in town has come along. She slept on the table in the down position and made up into a bed. No problem there.

This summer we did a family trip to Yellowstone and GTNP and both of our adult daughters came along. The plan was for them to use a tent with cots.

Well one night in GTNP there had been a bear seen in the campground the night before and that understandably caused some concern for our daughters. They did not want to sleep in the tent under those conditions.

It was NOT a good thing to have 4 adults in that 22.

The first night we tried 3 in the bed and 1 on the table. Nope. Husband left in the middle of the night and he slept in the tent.

The second night we tried again, and that resulted in one daughter sleeping on the floor in the aisle. Not Good.

So I can say from experience that the 22 sport is not large enough for 4 people.

End of.

Thank you for your reply. You confirmed my thoughts about 4 in the 22 FB.

Very welcome.

I would have to say that if you had asked about either of the 23 foot models, I would have given the same response.

The bed in the 22 is a really great size, and very comfortable bed. It measures 54 x 80 in our model. Wonderful bed.

I would not be happy for the 2 of us sleeping in the 48 inch wide bed in the 23D. (that is the same size bed found in the 16, 19, 20, and 23 D).

The 23 FB has a nice large bed, but you are then into the same issue as the 22 sport, with not being able to sleep 2 adults on the folded down dinette.

If you are truly wanting an model for 4 adults I would unfortunately recommend a 25.

We have a 23D and it works great for us. Our daughter sleeps on made down dinette and our son sleeps on the pull out lounge. It's a little crowded in the morning when every one is getting up but not a big deal. Also at 5000 lbs loaded you are in Good shape there

I have the 27' FB, and I love it. I sometimes travel by myself, and sometimes there's 4 of us. One thing to consider is the capacity of the tanks: fresh, black and grey. The smaller tanks will really limit how much boondocking you can do.

Best for 4

I have a 34' Excella. I live in it alone with a German Shephard. I can't imagine 4 people in anything smaller. Maybe more weight, but camping should be enjoyable not cramped.

We went to a 25 FB from our 22 when our two girls became adult size teenagers. It is great. One sleeps on the dinette and the other on the pull out couch/bench. The queen in the front is awesome. On a rainy day we can all hang out in the back, two stretched out on the couch and two sitting at the dinette.
