AS love - new purchase

This is my fourth and last post tonight. Can you tell we're excited with our new purchase?

Had to tell about the PO. When we completed the deal today, before he left, he went to the front of the trailer and spread his arms as wide as possible and hugged it. He said "this trailer saved my life". He didn't go into a lot of details but he was very sincere. Now we really have to take good care of her!!

Back with more questions later, I'm sure.

Great story Hippiechick, mine is very similar, I reassured them (especially Mrs. PO) that she was in good hands and we would love her as much and take care of her just as they did. I could tell they were sad to let her go.

I would hug mine but then I would have to use my micro fiber rag and wipe off my face and hand prints..

I would hug Lucy also, but then I would have to wipe the bugs and road dirt off of me.

The details

I gather it was a refuge from a difficult relationship - read - divorce in process.

Mopariac - My husband would say the very same thing about his '69 Roadrunner!

By the way does every AS on here have a name??

Aaah you freakin me out. I'd hug both my AS and my dodge challenger. Only I'm pretty sure the challenger will not be saving my life

Good luck with your new baby!

I would also hug Norman T. Bird. He is our 1956 Ford Thunderbird. And to answer your question, not all Airstreams here have names, but most do, including our beloved Lucy.

I'm a little surprised at how few of you who hug your trailer daily. I've been known to stroll past my wife and give the trailer a huge hug first, then back to the wife, then the cat gets his scritches. Am I missing something here?

I'm the direct opposite of you on this issue, John. My Honda generators are Amos and Leon. Without names, how would I tell them apart?

I like names...what is easier?..."1956 Airstream Custom/Overlander" or "Clarice"? after my grandmother who would only go camping with us if we took the Airstream!

Actually, John, they each have their names prominently displayed on them written in Sharpie.

Exactly, that would be way too predictable for me.

HippieChickie~ Names just come, we had no intention of naming her but she just looks like a Silver Bell (The Christmas Song-Silver Bells), so we named her "Belle" and its a lot easier to call her that than da-tradwind, or da-camper.

Lately I've noticed the generator being called "Jenny" also....

Funny, I've never been in to naming anything inanimate as well although I've called them names from time to time, as you can imagine, when say a bolt stripped as I was trying to get it replaced to meet a deadline . But those wouldn't be names I'd be telling anyone else anyway.

But the Flying Cloud has been a whole different story. From the moment we got it home our little old kitty adopted it. She loved that trailer and if the door was open on it when we were out with her in she'd go, up on the bed (my side ) . The trailer quickly became "Cricket's trailer" and it continues even though she passed a year after we got it. To me it is not what it is, but what it represents. A memory of a sweet little soul who loved to be in "her" Aistream that she was willing to share with us, as long as we didn't take up too much of her space on the bed.
