Aluminitis - Oh gawd I've caught it!
I found a nice Argosy in a barn. Been sitting for 10 years since the grandparents passed on. It has clear plastic slip covers over the upholstery. No mouse poop smell. I'm itching... itching I tell you! And the current owners will let me lease the barn space while I restore it. Ain't gonna tell you where it is either... at least not right away. Wow, would this be the Christmas present of the century for my sister when she visits... If that isn't self delusion I don't know what is.
A 31' footer just pulled into my campground last night. It's a mid-70's vintage and in unrestored condition...... with a rear bath.....
Can you spell rear-end separation boys and girls?
NO elephant ear repair and the bumper moves a LOT. Thanks to this website I was able to spot the problem and actually sound like I know something about restoring Airstreams.
Fortunately the current owner had gotten it for a song, and was planning to fix it up but wasn't too happy to hear about "the full monte".
I turned him on to this website and told him how to use the search tool - also found a thread about the nice dealership in NJ where he's from. I don't know what he'll do, but I think he's more of a "wallet" type than a do it yourself'er.
When he saw the inside of the CCD he started to drool gently - not an uncommon reaction - so maybe he'll just trade in his $600 find for a new one.
