Airstream Wave

While we have yet to come across another Airstream while out "streaming", we are still wondering if there is an official Airstream "wave" that we should use to greet our aluminum family. Any ideas you have on this are greatly appreciated!

Flash headlights?

Given closing rate and fact we're usually seeing other Airstream whiz by in opposite direction at 120 mph, we figure a quick flash of the headlights is nice gesture... More exotic waving or hand gestures proably not going to be recognized.. If traveling same direction at same speed, you can use modern sign language and wave as much as you'd like...

I stick my head out the window, hang my tongue way out, and wag like crazy. They probably think I am crazy. Probably will be if I try this next time and wind up with a wasp in my gullet.

While driving through Gila Bend, AZ a couple of weeks ago we spotted another AS headed the other way. So we flashed our lights and waved ... he did the same.

Turns out it was Steve Heywood ... another Forum member.

My husband raises his aluminum beer can out the window in an effort to say "cheers". Because after all how do you toast to aluminum friends, but with aluminum.

Kidding...we don't drink and drive, especially not while towing "Our Lady of Aluminum."

While traveling back from Parker, AZ two weeks ago we passed a couple of "streams that were parked. Naturally my wife and I grinning like fools honked and waved, just as the other two couples grinning like fools honked and waved back. Although we may never know who those people were, we still felt as though, by chance, we had seen a couple of friends while traveling.

Talking Taking a break

On many of my trips, I've either pulled over or had someone stop. We'll then shared a bit of roadside style "breaking bread"..
I can truely say, Unique bond and, fantastic company for the short period of time.
All too often, we're passing by friends..
Or, another way to put it.."Life is too short"..
When possible..we'll flash our lights and, wave too..

Before we got our Airstream, if we happened to be passing one, we would give the driver the *thumbs up*. Otherwise we would wave our fool arms off to someone driving in the opposite direction. Mind you, we did not have our Airstream yet, so they might have wondered what was up with us! Funny how the sight of aluminum releases those *feel good* endorphins.

We just completed a very long trip. We probably saw at least 30 Airstreams along the way. The coolest one was the Cstream (I think there is only 1) which was featured in Airstream Life. Oh Yeah... we flash the lights also.

Juhuh!!!!

We will be flashing too, if we see an Airstream overhere!! But as there are not that many, we probably don´t have to flash that often...

Sad but true...

BTW: We are proud owners of Dave the 1971 29' Ambassador. Since today!!!!! Juhuh!!!! We have only Pictures of it and hope to have him here within the next three week, depending on the time the wessel needs to Germany...

We are brand new AS owners and on our way home after purchasing her someone passed us honking and waving showing, what I now know to be airstream love but at the time I panicked because I thought she was trying to tell us something was wrong.

You will get that a LOT. Also being accosted in gas stations, parking lots, and darn near everywhere. I've been followed for miles, and 'orbited' so the follower can get a full look. Just try to drive steady and let the gawkers get an eyeful.

The questions and comments typically run as follows:

Wow, they still make these?

How old is it?

Great coach! (usually yelled across parking lots)

How much did it cost?

Can I get a look inside?

YMMV...
