Airstream Sport Versus Evergreen Element

Have you seen the new Evergreen Element? These trailers appear to be very well built. There's no wood, and they seem to be more reasonably priced. My only complaint is I'd prefer something a little shorter and lighter, like the Sport 22. Not sure how they tow, but they're arrow dynamic. So far I've heard no complaints. For whatever its worth, the manufacturer received an OEMs Earn RVDA’s Quality Circle Award......

That is one ugly trailer.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I kind of like it - sort of a Jetsons look. Got to love that interior. The dinette/couch is calling out to me "nap here, nap here."

Cold Weather Trailers: Their Future in Near

Have you seen the new Evergreen Element?

I noticed they offer heated water tanks (as an option), as do a couple other manufacturers. I believe it is a trend that will only grow as makers recognize the need for either extended use or even year round use, cold weather not withstanding. With technology and materials available now there is little excuse for not making trailers winter useable.

Gook looking trailer. You should get what you want and are comfortable with. Since we love the WBCCI caravans and unit rallies I only want an Airstream. Old Airstreams are ugly to many people also, but are what I like seeing sitting in the driveway. There probably are better built trailers out there, particulary for cold or hot weather use. But the Airstream is a bit of a proven design and holds up for the long haul. I try to stay away from extreme heat or cold anyway.

You could buy a really nice used Airstream for what they are asking for the Evergreen.
10 years from now the Airstream will still be looking good.

Looks well done.Unfortunately the company is relatively new.
I woul hate to pay $40,000 to be a guinea pig and hope that everything turns out for the best.

Beautiful interior and really like the exterior paint scheme. The nose styling is okay with me though it really looks like it cuts into the awning footprint.

I think it's a beautiful trailer, inside and out.

Who's to say Airstream is a better trailer? Assumming they're equal, why would I buy a used Airstream for the same price as a new Evergreen?

Ir doesn't look like the windows open. It seems to use a cartridge blackwater system. I like the electric awning.

I was looking at an Element yesterday and looked at a 22' sport and a used '10 25' flying cloud. Dealer I was at was selling the 24' element for $44k and another one for $49k. Compare that to the new 22' sport they're selling for $34k. We preferred the sport. The Sport isn't a wet bath like the element which is a big thing for us.

If it was just the 2 of us we would love the sport but because of my son and the plan to have another next year we want a 25' for the room and beds.

Aesthetically we liked the Evergreen. Much better than most travel trailers but to us it falls short of the airstream. If it wasn't so close in price it would be an option but to us the price difference isn't big enough not to get an airstream.

I've always admired the Airstream and when I start planning on owning an RV it was my first search (and I found this wonderful forum) at the same time. I love the exterior silver bullet look and all that, but when push comes to shove do I want a wood floor that appears to univerally rot? For less money I can own an Element. Would I? I don't know I'm still two years from that, but AS cache can only carry it so far as a buyer. I absolutely plan to see first hand the Element for a real look see and when I do I'll report my impressions. Another irritant is the AS website. Very poor in detailed information that today's internet buyers would want to know. Visit both and you'll understand what I mean (Evergreen Recreational Vehicles - Manufacturer of Green Eco-Friendly Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels). AS has a 1950 floor and a 1970 website, somehow not surprising.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT THE AIRSTREAM to be BETTER than it is and I know it COULD be! It's just hard to understand how AS can see all the common problems posted on this forum, and not address them.

I am currently reasearching and looking into various RV brands....evergreen had interested me a bit...I kinda like that element really and was giving it some thought...I was concerned about resale value 5-10 years down the road...but who knows...

As it relates, it appears they are no longer making new ones to send to dealers...dearler stock are all that is left...(or so a new thread at the evergreen forum on yahoo just popped up and said so I would not take it as gospel at this point)...too bad, kinda liked that one...AS still was winning my heart though to be honest...but it is always good to have healthy competition I would think.
