We were in Key West last week & saw a newer Airstream parked under a canopy next to someone's house. Now THAT's living! Key West house, Airstream toy....

Vintage Roadside

My wife came across this image on the Vintage Roadside Facebook page of this vintage rig passing through West Memphis, Arkansas on January 22, 2014.

You may have seen this before: spotted at Disney World Animal Kingdom in the Dinoworld segment of the park, where it is clearly a permanent resident.

I see your Animal Kingdom and raise you a California Adventure!

It looked to me like they actually use it for a waiting room and/or dressing room for stars for the nearby stage.

These two have probably both been posted in this thread several times already...

Love that polished Airstream motor home. Thanks for posting the Disney CA Adventure counterpart to my Disney World Animal Kingdom post. I think the dents on the one in CA give it some real character.

Hi, looks like they removed all of the name tags. And is it just me, or is that door a little wider than normal?

Yes, looks like Disney Imagineering has had their hands on it. They can do ANYTHING.

You're right, it does look a bit wide. We didn't get very close to it - there was a school band playing, and we didn't want to make a scene of inspecting the Airstream and distract people from their performance. So we found it, snapped the picture, then left.

Probably an odd place to put this observation, but maybe not...

A month or so ago, Karen and I loaded up our Honda Element at our N GA home and headed first to Chalet Suzanne in Central FL, then to Naples, FL to look at an Airstream or two at Bates RV, then to Tampa for the RV show, then to Sebring for a Light Sport Expo, then to Malabar on the east coast to visit friends, then to Tallahassee to visit another friend, then back home. All in just about a week. Whew!

About 1,900 miles altogether.

Why am I telling you this?

We did not see a single Airstream on the road. Not one. And we were looking, curious as to what people were using as tow vehicles. The ones we did spot (maybe a handful) were mostly in pretty sorry shape parked in spots where it looked like they had not moved from in ages.

Was this unusual? Or are they really that rare a sighting?

Just curious.

You a very correct, but my base line for needing wipers went out the window with my 1974 c j5. I went two years without wipers. Now everything looks fine! Heck with the Fl sun, you have to buy a new pair with every oil change. Hey that's not a bad idea.. Humm..

Hi, I just bought new wiper blades for both of our vehicles; Now it won't rain again for at least six months.

Just curious.[/QUOTE]

I find that during winter months AS sightings are more rare than in Spring or Fall, here in the south for some reason that is when I see the most AS's and mid summer/winter are few which may be due to the cold/rain/snow. I know that I don't take our Norman Rockwell edition out during winter times anymore because of the weather and health issues. As far as tow vehicles most use vehicles that in comparison with the weight they will be towing, I mean a vehicle capable of handling the weight the trailer in extreme situations not just pulling one. I know that with me involved in the towing industry I can not begin to tell you how many campers get totaled because of the tow vehicle not able to handle the camper in emergency situations.
Our 2 grandchildren that we are raising will be 18 in 5 years so our full timer time is slowly approaching.
