Airstream question.

A friend told me it's not a good idea to use our new Airstream near the salt air at the beach. We often stayed at a state park in Delaware right by the ocean with our previously owned campers and enjoy the area very much. Is it unadvisable to camp near the ocean?

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We live three houses off the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle. Our Airstream stays in the alley behind our house when not out traveling. We have had three Airstreams over the past fifteen years. Being so close to the ocean can be a little rougher on the Airstream, but ours is in this environment 200+ days a year.

I don't think you will have any problems camping near the ocean for a week or two. When you leave the beach, just stop and rinse her off at a car wash to make yourself feel better.

I wouldn't think it would be any worse than traveling on salted roads in the winter. There's plenty of salt road spray, enough to turn a car white with it. We have tried to leave before a snow storm to avoid it but if not we make sure to wash it really well ASAP.

We camp at the beach every year. Some of the time the wind blows salty moisture towards us and you can see the residue on the truck and Airstream windows. I always make it a practice to thoroughly wash truck and trailer when I get home. No big deal. In the end, I think UV is a whole lot worse for your trailer longevity(maintenance) and most of us park our trailers outside.
