Airstream Owners of Arizona
Greetings,
Are there any Airstream owners in Arizona who would be interested in purchasing a piece of land which could be used as an Airstream only camp ground?
I am not looking to start a new business and am not looking to profit from this, but I would like to find a great location that could be turned into a great weekend spot to visit.
If it were up to me, I think a location near Flagstaff would be perfect. All comments are welcome!

Sounds like a great idea to me! I do not live in AZ, but my brother does, near you, close to Marana. He likes Northern AZ, wants to move up there, says it's getting hotter and hotter every summer in Tucson/Phoenix. Trying to convince him to get rid of his 6 MPG SOB motorhome and get a smaller A/S to tow with his Tacoma!
I fear you may have to fight the tree huggers and environazis in that area to build a campground.

As a resident of Arizona, I can tell by your reply that you do not appreciate the real meaning of the word "NATURE".
Tree-huggers are to be lauded in a state that receives only a half cup of rain a year, and the pine blight and bark beetle will remove those unsightly trees for you real soon!
Seriously, though, I do see a good idea here, but there are great places now...ever go to Bisbee?
I have 40 acres up near Concho, and in that town is an abandoned development that was set up for motorhomes and travel trailers. Pads are cut, utilities are in...but it is not pretty AT ALL! Needs trees!!!!! Stocked (ugly) lake nearby.
That area, though, is beautiful, but windy as heck! Think wind generators and you can be even more off the grid.
The issues of exclusion of "other" trailers could end up as a headline on First Amendment rights...I say go for it! Everything else out on the road can't touch our beauty!!!!!!!
As land in Az is so easy to buy...no credit check, usually and at about $20K for 40 acres, this is still a great place to buy land, except for the tree hugger guy...he needs to stay home (haha).
There are so many places that are near Williams, and also near Heber that are reasonable in $$...check with First United Realty.
Good luck, and stay safe out there.

Desertgirl, my buddy Mr. Stihl and I do a lot of tree hugging. I own 6 acres here in Ohio, and we only "hug" the dead ones. I have hundreds of trees on my property, and we love the shade they give us.
The point I was trying to make, was that it is getting more and more difficult to build things such as campgrounds in environmentily sensitive areas. Yes, I have been to Bisbee, Benson, and Karchner Caverns.
My backyard a couple of weeks ago:

Mo' trees
Pick,
Your place is absolutely beautiful...and I am really just kidding about your sensitivity to Nature. All of us in Arizona have adobe for brains, you know, and we take out our dense humor on those that live near water.
I am serious about dumping those Camaros, though!

There is an Airstream Park in the White Mountains, between Show Low and Lakeside. There are 40 RV lots on 10 acres, with another 10 acres undeveloped. Some memberships are currently for sale (not mine!).

Thanks.

Desertgirl, when we bought this place it was a basket case, there were 5 cars and a school bus on the property. It took us a good 5 years to get the place cleaned up. We got salvage titles for all the vehicles and a auto wrecking yard picked them up and hauled them away for free.
If anyone is passing through on I90, you are welcome to spend a night or two. I have parking lot across the street for our farm market, with one 30 amp outlet. No water or sewer, but there is a dump station 8 miles to the South at a state park. $8 to dump.

Ponderosa Shadows
Ponderosa Shadows looks great!
There is just one problem. As you might have been able to tell from my photo, I am close to 25 years away from meeting the 55+ requirement.
I am hoping to find something like this, but with no age restriction. Is there anyone in AZ who would be interested in forming / joining a research committee that could start investigating possible sites to establish a new campground.
Josh
