Airstream Lifetime Warranty

Hi all!

I'm currious about the history of the "Lifetime Warranty" for Airstream trailers. What was that warranty and what was the last year that trailers were produced with this warranty? What did it cover? I'm guessing that with ownership changes that warranty is no longer honored? How big was the outcry when it was dropped.

My 66 Manual has a facsimile copy of the warranty in the front of the owners manual. I believe they are still honoured to original purchasers. Cover manufacturing defects but not wear and tear items.

Lifetime warranty

Jack,
I found this on lifetime warranties dated May 1998.

Is My Lifetime Airstream Guarantee Still Good?
I purchased an Airstream "Pacer" 18' # SS130 in 1958 from a dealer in Riverhead, New York. My Airstream has never passed out of my possession.
My understanding was, and still is, that my "Exodus" was guaranteed against all defects for my, the original purchaser's, life. My "Exodus" is presently sitting in my backyard and suffering, for many years, from a certain benign neglect. It has not moved for many years.
At age 69 I believe I am the Airstreamer who has owned an Airstream for the longest time.
What I would like to know is how I can contact the Airstream Company to ask them how I can have my original owner's "Lifetime" guarantee made good. -- Could you give me some information about this??

Re:Is my lifetime Airstream Guarantee still good?
Yes, as a matter of fact it is still good. You will need to show proof of purchase of course. Read the fine print. It is a warrantee against structural problems so it won't cover benign neglect. You will also likely be required to take it to an Airstream dealer. Contact Customer Service at Airstream for the whole story. Their number is (937)596-6111.

The "Airstream Registration of Ownership" for my 1969 Overlander states the warranty as:

"For the lifetime of the registered Warranty Holder, or so long as he continues as the original owner of the Airstream Travel Trailer, Airstream warrants the metal shell, frame, axle, and axle assembly to and including the spindle (excluding shock absorbers) to be free from defects in material and workmanship; all other component parts, including shock absorbers (excluding tires and batteries) are likewise warranted for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Any warranty defects will be corrected without cost upon return of the trailer, or defective part, to any Airstream factory of authorized Airstream service center."

The document is dated May 19, 1969. Evidently, the lifetime warranty was part of the package then. I do not know when it was abandoned.

Airstream requires the serial number when you have any service done at the factory service center. It is my understanding that they still honor the warranty to original owners.

On that note, My 73 Owners Manual tells me on pg11 "the Dura-Torque axle is designed to last the life of your trailer without service"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIGHT
