thanks Andy

I guess I got all caught up in the spontainiety and the surprise of individual comments and pictures. Opening a balloon was like answering the phone without caller ID. Or as Forrest Gump would say...just like a box of chocolates. You never knew what you were going to get.

I know you will make it a great resource. My kudos to you for this fantastic forum and all the special extras and improvements you build into it. You take good care of us.

As stated, this map is in it's first draft. Expect member avatars, links to profiles, courtesy parking info, trailer info and much more to become available on the map before next season. Since this map is running off of an XML file on our server we will be able to do way more... Be patient, we are just getting started, the best is yet to come!

Ladies and Fellas, this is the same map as we had at frappr. If you look close at the frappr maps you can see "Google" written all over it kind of like a water mark. They've just got all the features set up already.

This is all my fault for goosing Andy into pre-release. I know if I wouldn't have come up with the first map, he would have come out with one ten times better a couple months from now. Like Andy said (I forgot to quote him), be patient. This is a much better way.

BTW, what's the diff between a red and yellow pin? Courtesy Parking? Inspectors?

Oh yeah, I would love to see pics in the balloons and the name link going to the user's profile instead of going to the home page...If you get time. :-)

The yellow pins are from our dear friends the Moderators...

I really love this map, but where are all the others on our side of the big pond?? I am missing some red pins in the netherlands, germany and england.

Come on folks, we want to know where you are...

The yellow pins also mark towns where you cannot drive through unless you have combed your hair and put on clean socks.

If you enter a yellow pin area during daylight hours, you are required to present yourself to the local moderator, properly attired and bearing a gift such as a hotdish (casserole) or freshly baked pie.

if you enter after dark, it is ok to leave a couple of rolls of TP hanging from their trees as a sign of respect and devotion.

Bonjour Bruno,

glad to surprise you...
I have a list of 28 European Forum Members and at least 18 of them have an Airstream overhere. The others are looking for a TT or MH or have their Trailer in the States.

There are more Trailers on the roads of europe, but the people don´t show up in the forums. They don´t know what they miss.

a bientôt (sorry for my bad bad french, these are the only things I can remember, well exept of some sentences that help but shouldn´t be published on the internet...)

Airstreams Forums Map

I just put the pin over our home. Is it the intention that clicking on the pin and then the user name will take one back to the FORUM PAGE? I thought it would go the user profile.

That makes sense. Maybe that's one of the future enhancements that aren't functional yet.

You also need to move west a few feet so you're 'in the water' like a good Minnesotan.

Actually, like a good Minnesotan, we live on a small lake. The long, lats will not get anyone to our house. If they do happen to arrive with evil intentions, my 96 lb. black lab will welcome them. Do you belong to the Mn. WBCCI?

So much in Europe ?

Well I'm surprised that we are so much in Europe !!!
No news from most of them on the forum... how they do to live without that .
Do they use their A/S on the roads ? I know one guy in FRANCE that use his caravan in a commercial goal. Has this situation to be counted on the map ?
I think no... he doesn't use the caravan with the original AIRSTREAM spirit: simply to travel well and certainly don't know the forum ...

Hi Perry; welcome on the map ! only one flag on the map for all your Airstream park ?

That's why on the map, I can be found drinking margaritas at my favorite restaurant...

My balloon will remain set exactly on my house because I like it there. You can't pick out anything here from a satellite view anyway except one of my neighbors' stupid-ass 200-foot driveways. If someone wants one of these Airstreams, well, come on by! I'll be waiting.

I just don't like to spend time worrying about all those things that COULD happen. Of course, I also associate overly cautious personalities with a certain dullness of affect but there's probably a middle ground there somewhere.

Just a question for clarity... I put myself on two maps; have the two been combined to one? Is the one here, with the link on the top of the forum, the only one with me on it now? I can't remember if I just looked at my house or put the marker on it - the second time. The one I link to from here is NOT on my house, but I can't get to the other one anymore to check???
