This is an interesting and rare Airstream because of the double doors, but I don't know that that would increase the value much. It will be a big project to restore or renovate.

The shell damage done by the tree is repairable, but a lot of work to do right.

The frame is definitely something to be concerned about if the trailer has not been actively used and leaks not fixed for decades. It is potentially worse if the trailer has sunk to the point that the belly pan is in contact with the ground. Frames can be repaired, or even entire new frames constructed, but it is a big job.

You won't really know what you have until you can extricate it and give it a good thorough inspection. I would anticipate the the frame will need work and the plywood floor will need to be replaced. Obviously the shell needs work. This is before you get to cabinets, wiring, and plumbing. This one likely falls in the "labor of love, keep it because you really like it" category (where time and money really don't matter), rather than the "quick fix and flip for a buck" category.

I will check serial numbers when i get back in contact with the owner and go back over to it. In peoples opinions much more knowledgeable on airstreams is this a project worth while undertaking? Or is it too far gone? I guess i will have to take the complete trailer condition into account after moved. Also shal i be worried about the frame? Its been in the dirt a long time. My thinkings is to pull it out. Get the wheels freed and the hitching system working then putting new tires on the wheels and towing it hom (approx 5 miles)

It is definitely not a quick fix and flip for a lot of money. But with two doors it is a unique trailer, especially if it is only 22' feet long, which would make it a Flying Cloud.

Tomb of the unknown Airstream has been found. Contains a mummy.

As they say, bring a trailer for the trailer.

WBCCI # 13892 was first assigned in 1965 to a couple from Minnesota, which I do not believe applies in your case. In the 1972 thru 1980 WBCCI Membership Directories, #13892 was assigned to an Earle D. & Dolores White of Bath, PA (1972), Lehigh Valley, PA (1980, Earle only), no credited caravans. In 1984, #13892 was reassigned to a couple in Massachusetts, which I also do not believe applies, so I did not check any further.

Thus, I will guess that the grandparents in this case were Earle & Dolores White of two cities in Pennsylvania that are very close to where you are from. That's all I could find.

Yep. Bath is where the trailer is and those are the former owners that have long since passed away. Thank you!

Hi Joe, Does the registry list any details on, model, year or length?

If by registry you mean Airstream Club records, the answer is unfortunately no. The club has never kept any records of the Airstreams owned by members. In fact the club has no membership database that includes records of years past. The only records of the membership in years past are 65 years worth of old paper Membership Directories that have to be manually searched by hand to determine the names assigned to membership numbers and caravans the assigned may have been credited with participating in. These searches each take a significant amount of time to perform.

Following along and eager to see more photos as the extraction process continues!

Even if you decide it's too costly to pursue such a daunting restoration surely it could stabilized enough to sell it to another enthusiast who will or at least donor parts?

Whew, I'm an optimist, but even this one is too far gone to save I'm afraid. You might be able to Frankenstein it with another similar era/length basket case, but you are looking at probably about $30K in materials plus your time. The 2 door in a 26 footer is rare but not unheard of as a custom option. If it is a 22', the impact on the floorplan would have been beyond any practicality and would be interesting to see what it was if you are able to get additional pictures.

Cool none the less i have not seen a model in this size with two doors? Does anyone have more info on what this model / year this is? Sorry its covered by foliage these are the best photos i could get today.

Buy it cheap if you can, drag it home and clean it up to the best of your abilities. Put it up for sale at a profit. Let someone else spend hundreds of hours and wheelbarrows of $$$ trying to make it useable/nice/pristine. Best advice I can offer.

Awesome Project!

take your time moving it, and plan to lift the shell off the frame. Keep every single piece that you take out, and label and photograph everything you take apart. I think you'll be surprised at the quality of most of what's in there. If you're careful, you can use all the original rivet holes as you piece it back together. Treat it like a giant puzzle kit. You'll eventually have quite a gem.

airstream barn find... anyone know what year/ model?

I had a 57 Overlander that had been hit by some trees. Both ends were dented. I took it apart, changed a few things, made some great plans and then sold it after the body was back on the frame.
It was a fun project. I learned a lot. I spent a lot of money on it.
At the end of the day I like my 2006 22’ CCD I’m glad I had a trailer to use while I worked on the other one.
If you do it plan on it being a project. Not a quick fix

I have a ‘59 Globetrotter. It doesn’t have as many end panels as the one in your pics so I would guess it’s older than mine.

Congratulations on finding this poor guy! I hope you will be able to spend the time and $$ on it to bring it back to life. I had a 1955 13-panel Flying Cloud that was all original--little Princess stove and all--that I intended to restore, but lost it in divorce and I have regretted it every day since. I will follow your thread and call it my virtual restoration!

Good luck, and don't give up!
