A little less sweat

I just finished installing a 30A RV outlet on the front of my workshop, right beside the 20A outlet I installed last fall. It is close enough to where I park the trailer to prepare for a trip that I can reach it with the trailer cord without using an extension.

Now, I am ready to tackle some tasks such as the cork floor in air conditioned comfort.

First test will be Monday when I bring the trailer home to prepare for a 3-day trip to Lake Somerfield SP.

Ok, I'm jealous. You want to come down and put a 30 AMP box on the side of my house where I plan to park my trailer?

That's a great idea and it will have to go on my never ending to-do-list.

Good job Pahaska

I'm about to do the same thing this weekend.
Bought the Weathertite box, a breaker and the 30 amp. receptacle on Thursday.
Mine will go on the outside power panel up at the lake.

Am I to feel bad because I installed a 50 amp box?? lol

Btw,
Does your outlet have a standard 120v outlet in the box as well??

Yep, have an outlet for our trailer, too --- 20 Amp (I already had a 20A circuit breaker and #12 wire - handles a/c just fine). Had the a/c turned "on" while installing the new carpet. Also keeps battery system charged, etc. When we are ready to take off (like next weekend) we can turn the 'fridge on ahead of time.

We'll be off to a Texas State Park, too. (east of Dallas) My kids and grandkids will be in their RV -- daughter has one of those giant wave runners, so it will be "lets drown grandpa" next weekend!

Upper 90's here --- and it isn't a dry heat like AZ <G>..

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer. I'm looking forward to Fall and our trip to NY, Conn, Ohio, etc.

Safe travels to all.

The 20A box is to the left of the 30A box in the photo above. I installed the 20A box last fall to power the trailer, but I was leery of using the AC on 20A; hence the new 30A box.

I'll be at a lake. also. this coming week, but it will be a little further south. I'll be at Nails Creek SP on Lake Somerville from mid-Tuesday through mid-Friday. Just me and the cat; wife will be in Michigan where I hope it is a bit cooler. Forecast is for 99, 99, 99, 99 while I'm there.

She will think the giant AC is running. 80's and a chance of rain until the middle of next week. We had the first real rain yesterday in nearly a month, one of those systems where you feel the temperature drop when it comes through.

That's good! Some of the worst heat I have ever dealt with was trying to sleep in the upstairs bedroom of my wife's parent's home in Saline, MI. Not a breath of air stirring and terrible humidity. No air conditioning or even a fan. I finally went down to grab some sleep on an old couch in the basement.

Ummm...I'd go to SomerVILLE, not SomerFIELD, if I wanted to go to Nails Creek... (Just trying to keep you from going too far astray <G>)

Brain fart, I guess. Disconnect between my brain and fingers. I have been to that lake several times, so I know better. This will be the first time at Nails Creek, though. I have been to Birch Creek SP on the north shore in the past and to some of the non-state parks on the lake such as Yegua Creek near the dam.

BTW: I went back and edited the original post.

Thumbs up nice job dittos

John, Nice job on the install...
You remind me of my dad... there is no job that he can not do! As he is retired now it seems that he is much busier than when he worked full time... He is always fixing something at the church or at boy scouts...
If you don't mind what does "sabre-d" and pahaska mean?
"learning as I go"

Thanks.

Sabre-D is in honor of the F-86D Sabre interceptor that I flew in Uncle Sammys Air Force. BTW: The 50th Reunion of the founding of my squadron will be next month in Colorado Springs.

Pahaska was the name of my 25' sailboat. It means "White Crane" in Lakota Sioux. After I sold the boat, I started using it as a wen nom-de-plume. Just sort of a habit now.
