71 argosy

O.K. new to forums currently do not have a vintage trailer, but wife and I have always wanted one. We were headed home from my office yesterday and only a few miles from home sitting in a yard was a 71-Argosy 24' for sale. Not sure of value but wanted some input It has a couple coats of paint pretty rough but very straight with exception of a few dents in lower front corners, windows all there and good shape, no water damage that can be seen, interior pretty much stripped but walls/roof straight, does have partion walls and tub sill there, floor seems solid, tires flat.
What do I look for it looks like a clean slate to start with.
Thanks in advance for any input.

71 was the first year for Argosy but that one sounds like a lot of time and money needed to get it camp ready. That year did not have gray tank so one needs to be added. I just finished a restoration on a 28' 1960 that had most everything with it and it took 3 years to complete. Lucky I have 2 finished trailers to use.
You should look for a trailer you can use as is, then get one to work on, it makes it a lot easier to look at all the work needed, when you can go camping right away.
I would think you would have more in it then it could be worth so a starting price should be very low like $500 - $1000 at most.

Thanks for the input The $ is lower end of that and for now we may want to use it more as yard art and spare room for guest's we really at this time dont need something to camp in cause we have a moho. for that.
I would have explained that in first post but didnt want to get too long winded. That mat be the appealing part is its a clean slate. good points taken.

inspection list

There is an inspection checklist that may help you out with things to look for when you go and look at an AS to buy. Look at the main Portal page on the right hand side under Airstream Inspectors List and you will see an inspection list that you can download or use.
We have an 1978 Argosy 6.7 metre Minuet-a little different than the Argosy. Ours is slightly narrower and has an aluminum floor. Very light to tow and a great little "guest room" when needed.
Good luck in your quest.
