30' International Recliner Couch Conversion.

My wife would like to have our L Shaped front lounge replaced with a Recliner Couch. We travel by ourselves and have no use for the additional sleeping accommodations.
Need some ideas where to start and advise from someone who has actually did a conversion. Ours is a 2013 International Sign.Trailer.
Thank you all in advance.

I have the exact same question for the L-Lounge in my International Serenity 28W -- so am following this thread. I suspect though for me it would be alot tougher, as my water heater and charger/converter are smack directly underneath the short leg of the L couch.

Someone posted into the Facebook Airstream Addicts forum a link to a sofa able to be installed on a flat platform, such as is my L-Lounge; that I don't loose the under storage. I am trying to locate it now - the images appeared to show a modernized gaucho'esque couch/bed option; but with weird amenities like USB ports built into the frame, etc. I'll try and find that link and post it into the thread for your viewing.

EDIT:

Found it -- Lisa Wemple on Facebook posted to the Addicts forums a couple of posts revolving around a sofa she used during a rebuild -- a Serta Palermo. If you're a member of the group on FB, do a group search for Palermo and it will return the post involved. if you want nothing to do with the group, or FB, I am copying an external link to the product via a third part company, below.

My thoughts is it would be relatively easy to remove the current base and re-attach it to a flatboard base that is the L-Lounge, either in a permanently fixed fashion that allows for sectional recline, or on heavy duty lock/slide-out mounts to allow for a fuller futon/bed experience for guests or an afternoon nap near the door.

This makes me wonder why Airstream discontinued the recliner option in 2015. That's the one I wanted so I held for a 2014. There's a small cabinet between the recliners with some electrical stuff, but the water heater I believe is under the dinette in my model.

The 30' International has the water heater under the dinette on the fridge side.
I had to replace ours last year for faulty welds of the fittings to the tank.

The backs of the recliners are removable and it fit through the door with about an inch spare. Unit is made by Flexsteel. I think the pieces that were removed about equal the weight of the recliner.

That is awesome.
How long is that couch and how far does it extend from the front wall as it sits in the picture ?

Thanx

The couch is 71" wide, 24" from floor to top of arm rests and 66" when fully extended. I think it is a little less than a foot from the front wall as shown in the picture. Both sides will fully extend. Beside it extending the top of the back cushion also is powered to raise up a little (you just can't get too comfortable while camping). The store where we purchased it delivered and set it in the AS. Airstream NW in Gladstone took out the "L" shaped seating and fixed everything up, we tried it out for the first time last weekend and it worked great. The center armrest has storage in it for the remotes etc. Gary
