Cool 2017 classic no 12vdc

Hi all;

MY batteries are dead. Connect to truck and functionality of all systems are go.
I had this problem several months ago and the converter was replaced. Thought my dealer installed better quality converter. How can I tell? Can I order and replace the converter myself? The AS is still under warranty! Probably not. Caller dealer again and it will take a month just to get it in for diagnostics. We have a trip planned with grand kids as they are out of school next week.

Any suggestions?

AndyT

Are you hooked to shore power? If not, then something 12 volt mus be left on. Batteries discharge on their own after a while, if there is a drain it happens quickly. Someone with a new trailer will give youmore info.

Am hooked to shore power, have 50amp circuit at home. Think convertor has failed.

Progressive Dynamics makes "plug compatible" replacement multi-stage charger/converters to replace the stock unit supplied by Airstream (their 4600 series.) Find out which model you have currently and then use this web site to pick the replacement. These units can easily be ordered on Amazon.

Trial test

AndyT,

Do you have a good 12V car charger? A fairly stout one.

Unplug the converter, disconnect the converter from the batteries and just for a test connect the 12V charger to your batteries. Charges? System starts to come back to life?

I had a WFCO crap out at a rally, bought a good 12V charger and ran about 5 days on this rigged replacement until a got a PD replacement.

That spare 12V charger now stays with the trailer.

Okay, so you are plugged into 120V.

Do you have 120V in your outlets in the AS?

In 2017, you must have voltage meter in kitchen area? If so, what does it say when you are unplugged from 120V? What does it say when you are plugged into 120V?

Do you have a volt meter (handheld)?
