1997 excella 30'

New to ASF. Been shopping for an airstream for over a year (25-30ft) to live in full time with my girlfriend. We are travel RN/ physical therapist so our steipend should cover costs to live in full time.
Finally found a 30' 1997 excella 1000. I've seen it, had it inspected (on rv lot by an rv inspector with 30+ years experience, claims to be confident with AS but not a certified AS professional).
No leaks, plumbing had no leaks with an air pressure test, all electric appears to work. Some small dents and small scrapes that can be buffed out on the outside. Recommends resealing the roof soon, and maybe paint the cabinets and update style inside,. IT NEEDS SOME LOVING. Looking to buy by next week (I have refundable payment to hold) but will have to put in storage until June, so we can work on it in the mean time.

Question is they are asking $20,999. I've been searching and the condition, year, and price all seem to be what I'm looking for. I know I'm going to spend more to get it full time livable and road ready (which it may already be?) Would I be overpaying?

I DO NOT WANT A MONEY PIT! But my instincts and research say that this is a good deal. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the Air forum!
I own that very same model and looked for some time to find it as well. The reason is the wide body, the dinette in my layout and the comfortable bathroom.
If you spend time in the south, a second AC is a must. I installed myself and saved 2500. (dealer wanted 3500).
I paid less for mine, but it was a gamble, since it was sold as-is at a dealer. I was not able to test most systems and found many frozen waterlines.
Replacing the original carpet (if present) is a fairly big job, since it was laid down prior to the furniture. Its best to pull the dinette and the couch to do this job.
The exterior Clear coat is an issues with the 90's models, I stripped mine and polished it.
The vinyl foam liner on the ceiling has problems as well and may need attention.
Enjoy your new trailer!
