1975 27ft Overlander

HELP NEEDED: I am in the process of restoring a 1975 27ft Overlander...I need the wiring diagram for the Control Panel to include the panel connector...I have upgraded the power converter to include a new circuit panel...the original control panel was damaged due to overheating from the stove (that was what I was told)...I replaced with a salvaged control panel that was advertised to be "OK"...nothing on the panel seems to work, water pump, etc...checking the plug I note power on the red and brown lead'in wires on the plug...interior lights, exhaust fan works as normal...

At this moment I am stumped !

Hello from Colorado: Nice to meet another 70s Overlander owner. I too have a 75 Overlander. I've owned it for two years and have done a lot of work on it. I believe it is now "travel ready" and significantly renovated. My blood, sweat and tears "project thread" is linked below. I have made my maiden voyage in the Overlander and all went darn well.

I have a service manual in my shop and I will shoot a picture of the wiring diagram for the "control panel" for you tomorrow. I elected not to restore my old control panel as I have replaced both black and grey water tanks and I'm using a SeeLevel instrument now instead of the old control panel. The resistive sensors molded into the old waste water tanks are not that reliable in my view. There was 4 wires from each tank all tied into the analog gages on the control panel. A lot of wires for a little information on tank levels. None of them worked when I bought the trailer. The plastic cover was quite yellowed on my control panel. But I did keep the thing in my trailer adding a bit of old vintage look. I use the water pump switch, and I use the range hood opening lever.

Well, I have 8 pictures of the 8 pages in the service manual concerning the control center. The pictures are downsized automatically when uploaded to the Forums. Let's see if you can enlarge them and mouse around to get the information you need.

Thanks...problem found, control panel is now limited operational, suspect internal functions may have been damaged...water pump is now working...what I need now is an AC thermostat for the Armstrong AC unit...the AC blows cold, a bit noisy on high-fan but ok on low-fan...would like to find the same Honeywell thermostat unit, so'far no-joy cruising the internet...need advise on a suitable unit...all is good, things are moving...thanks to David for the quick reply...

You know, I did find the control panel well built and the gages used to be of high quality. It's just that moisture and old age take their toll. The SeeLevel is an excellent instrument, easy to install, and quite reliable. That is the route I went. Happy to hear you gain at least some function out of the control panel.

The air conditioner manufacturer may still be around. RV repair shops may also be able to help. A RV air conditioner is almost a throw away item. It quits, and a replacement unit isn't that much more than a new compressor. Some shop may have one they would be willing to part out.

More help needed: my present plan is to keep the Gaffers&Sattler 818478-4st
stove top...it cleaned up nicely...what I need are the control knobs for this unit...I have purchased every "known to man" universal knob set kits...all have been to small to fit the control shaft...the shaft (D) measures .342 inches...let me know a possible source or some that may be collecting dust in that back drawer...the restoration is going well but finding vintage parts are becoming scarce...thanks for a great forum...Cheers/John

Help Request: I am looking for an AC thermostat Honeywell Mod#: Q634F 1000-1...it's the original that came with this Overlander...my AC unit is the original Armstrong unit...it blows "cold" air but is a bit noisy on the high-fan setting...my thermostat has seen some hard knocks from the past and needs to be replaced...let me know if one is available, or what may be suitable to replace...Thanks/John

Sorry I can't help. Surely there is someone out there that is swapping out their old air conditioner for a new one and would be willing to take out the thermostat for you.

MORE HELP NEEDED: Our 1975 Overlander project is near complete with a few more items needed before our first over camping shakedown: the Tambour rail plus Finger Pull that's located under the cook top is missing plus the Instrument Panel needs replaced...we have lots of original items if anyone is looking, i.e.
oven, original cook top, gaucho bed plus frame and much more...if interested please reply...Thanks/John

Still looking for a thermostat? Found these in my partially gutted 74 sovereign. Cant find a model# on them. I think one is for the AC and one is for the heat. One has a hi and low fan position. I think I have the same instrument panel, available, too. Will get a picture and send.


Although...now I am wondering why you need AC in Alaska..

Thanks to BAUXTER, control panel plus ac thermostat has been found...now to finish the interior, we need the Tambour plus Finger Pull that's located under the cook top...we're near ready for our shake'down camping trip...following that the last major project will be to strip the grey paint that was done (why ?) on the exterior...that I'm not looking forward to, for sure I will be asking for advise/hints to ease that process...
