Well, if nothing else, this has a bunch of us more concerned about security now. I spent most of my day yesterday and today trying to decide on the best alarm/tracker system for my old alumalady. All the work and money and it could just go 'Poof!' because some brain donor would rather steal than work.

At present I'm remodeling the bedroom (converting from a queen to one twin. Since its just me I will have a lot of room and I have a perfect place to build in one of the trackers. I was looking at the Spy-Tec models but all the recommendations for the Spot Track has swung me over. Putting in my order tomorrow after I get back from Houston with my new custom made mattress.

Very happy you found her...that was really a blessing. Not many are that lucky.

I wish there was a decent tongue hitch lock out there that would fit Airstreams.

I would rather prevent the theft than track it...

This news made my day. So glad you got her back. Hopefully this is his third strike, so they can lock him up, and throw away the key.

Congratulations! And thanks.

End procrastination, ordered my Spot Trace yesterday, Cabela's has them on sale for $49, although they are backordered a week or so.

Towed her to a secure storage facility until my fences are fixed.
I will be beefing up security and installing a GPS unit buried deep
within the innards to keep track of her.
Now it's time to plan the restorations and make her sing.
Thank you again!
I am sure "Ol' Eagle Eye" was glad to help!!! How did they learn about the loss??? Or did they notice it was odd that the thief had such a nice Airstream??? And alerted the authorities?

What a great turn of events getting your trailer back.

Now I'm wondering about pulling the wheels and leaving it on jack stands while leaving it long term out in the desert. Keep the wheel out of sight till you want to tow it someplace. Save the tires form the sun exposure and really deter a repeted ordeal.

This also adds another good reason to indulge my nazyness about polishing my classic Moho. Peeling clear coat = much less attractive.

So happy for you.

Cheers Richard

Where are people putting this?

Re: Stolen Sovereign.

Vashi, if I can help I'll be glad to. I live inJoshua Tree. Try sending me a message through Personal Messenger. It's pretty upsetting that people in this locale resort to thievery!

Thank you for the kind words Bill. Luckily it was found 2 days ago in Yucca Valley and I have towed it back to a secure storage facility in Joshua Tree so I can install a GPS unit on it and repair my fence and property before she goes back. I put up flyers and hit the Joshua Tree / Hi Desert Facebook communities and someone spotted it and contacted me.
No damage and a lot of dodgy explanations from the people whose property it was on but bottom line she's back and lesson learned. Next step is restoration for the inside. Let me know if you have any RV mobile repair recommendations! Thanks

Vashi, I am so glad your Airstream was found! Did you not inform police? Were it me....I would want the scoundrels punished! Excuses be darned....on their property....they are guilty of thievery or at the least....receiving stolen property!

Suggestion for future......electrify the fence!

mount on the roof and the use waterproof cable or under the skylight and just make a simple bracket. put a box around it so no one knows what it is

There are many hidden places the spot trace can work from. Get creative, it goes through plastic and thin aluminum.

I bought the D.C. Cable but decided to just use the normal batteries as they last quite a long time (years) and the unit will alert you when they need changing via text or email.

Also, make sure through the software setup to turn off the blinking green light as it saves power and also saves a thief from seeing it.

I wonder if it would be money well spent to buy two units. Mount one under the lid of the Propane Tank enclosure to be easily found by the professional, high end criminal. The second one would be located up under the air conditioner cover. Hopefully they would not do another RF sweep after disconnecting and crushing/pulling the battery out of the first transmitter they found.

If you have the SPOT Trace hidden under the propane cover, then when the lid is opened and the device moved, you will get an alert, but if the unit is destroyed you will loose tracking.

A problem with mounting a unit on the roof is access for yourself. You will want to turn it off when you are travelling with the trailer or you will get movement alerts every couple of minutes. Also, even being in the trailer moving around would likely set off the alerts as mine goes off during a thunder storm when it is windy.
