The panels come white from the supplier to AS, several members have painted their vintage AS, it really cuts down on heat transfer as they have told. Use the main search up top to find several posts on this from late 2000's era when AS started using the white roof panels.

On the Airstream website there is a document that tells the history of aluminum that has been used through the years.
This was what it said in 2009, the year the document was published:
3005*H18*Polar*White*.032*x*60"*Aluminum*3105*H14* from*Owens*Corning*

I applied 4 coats of "Bus Coat" this spring before we left on our summer trip.....amazing difference......outside temps were 90 to 97 degrees most of the trip. We have a single Duotherm Penguin, inside temps were maintained at 76 to 77 degrees....Prior to "Bus Coat" temps were 80 to 82 degrees in that sort of outside temperatures.

We're back home, we were only gone about 2 months this year so far. Jacquie has an upcoming cataract operation later this month. Had a great trip through the midwest this year.....Going to Tennessee for a month or so in Sept/Oct....

How 'bout you guys?

Larry

Only the top panels that are already painted white. 1st coat is a special primer for Bus Coat, then follow with multiple coats of Bus Coat. Here's the link for the company.

If you have questions, the sales reps at the company were very helpful to me..

I 're-covered' our 15yr old roof with Griot's carwash soap and green scrubby pads. 👍😳👍
