Roof Damage

My 69 Overlander roof was punctured by a tree branch during a wind storm and I'm not sure how to have it repaired. The damage is just above the awning channel over the curb side middle (twin bed) window. I currently have it taped with aluminum tape (aka "speed tape"), but I want a permanent repair. I could order a 12" wide roll of aluminum sheet and cut out/remove the damage part, re-rivet the new back in or is there a way to heliarc weld the tear. If I do that, I will need a body shop to pull out the damage portion back into position. Any suggestions?

You can buy polished aluminum from Airparts (https://www.airpartsinc.com/.
I would just cover the existing hole rather than removing the panel. Use some good caulk like sikaflex and rivet. It is up top, so not noticeable.

I use a product made by Bostic. It is Simson ISR70-03, which is an adhesive as well as a sealant. It is used by bus manufacturers in Manitoba. It is an industrial product, but is available to the public. Check with industrial adhesives supliers close to you. Comes in aluminum and white colors. I have used for many years with great success. You can cut a piece of aluminum to cover the problem area, seal with sealant, and then rivet the outside edges to make it look better and maintain integrity.

Thanks guys, for the quick answers. Looks like the Bostic only comes in black while the sikaflex has a aluminum grey option for $18 on Amazon. I'll keep you posted and add pix.

Another good source for aluminum is OnLineMetals.com. Here is a link for the 0.04 and 0.032 inch clad aluminum commonly used for your vintage trailer. They will cut to size. https://www.onlinemetals.com/en/buy/...e-2024-t3-clad

Cheers!
