Preping for A/C on '66 Tradewind

I am going to put A/C on my '66 Tradewind project. Do I have to remove the entire vent assembly? '66 was the first year the roof came reinforced from the factory to accept A/C so there is no structural work that need to be done.

Hello: I should think you will be removing the entire old vent/fan assembly so the new AC will fit through the whole. The AC takes a dedicated 20 amp circuit from the breaker box to the AC. I bet you 66 has that wire already run up there, and maybe you have found it.

Here is a photo of the factory installed wire rolled up on the top right of the breaker box. My 66 Trade Wind had a separate breaker for the AC, but I don't know how the wire was run. I never took the AC off.

the hole has to be 14x14 maybe a 1/4" more. so it all depends on what the vent looks like but i would suspect it comes out. i put c channel around that to increase stability.
