mystery roof apparition
I dunno. Check out the photo of my refrig roof vent-it appears to have a towel holder added to it. Do you know what this is and what purpose it serves? It appears to be screwed or riveted on, and vulkem over the screw/rivet heads. So, it wasn't a tmpy thing or a jury rigged modification. But, I don't have a clue-how about you?
And yes, I will enjoy humorous as well as serious replies.
Thanks

It's for when the kid who's causing all the fights in the car gets kicked out by the old man & is given this bar to hang onto (while traveling of course) until he behaves!

Certainly unique. Suppose it's a towel dryer? You hang the towel on it to dry using the heat from the refrigerator vent?

This is very interesting to say the least.
You can see in the picture that the clear coat is worn off the roof area only in the area next to the vent in question. This might indicate that the PO used this area of the trailer when he climbed on top. The towel rack might have been installed as a hand hold to help transfer from the ladder to the roof. The question then would be, why would someone be going up on the roof that much?
It also might have been installed so that people like us would wonder why someone would mount a towel rack on the roof...

It's where you hang your flamingo bath towels and wash cloths to show everyone your impeccable taste....both at the campground and while on the road

Support/ tie down for TV antennae?
I'm a bit dissapointed in the title of this thread. Where is the apparition? I was looking for the Virgin Mary, but would have settled for Wally's ghost.

Hmmm....is there one of these next to it?
If these trailers could talk...the stories they would tell!

I can see the item on the previous owner's departure checklist now:
17. Remove towels from rooftop towel rack.

It's the handle the mothership attaches to open the vent so they can suck you directly up and out of the trailer.

You mean Jackson Center is run by the aliens?
I guess they didn't start using molecular transporters until the 60s.

Don't know what it is for, but it looks pretty darn cool.
Probably useless.
Although, it might just come in handy sometime, for what, I have no idea.
Perhaps I should put one on each of our Airstreams, just in case.
You know, that may not be a bad idea.
In fact, it may be a darn good idea. Just in case, you know?
Maybe I'll get a couple the next time I'm in Home Depot or Lowe's.
Oh heck........I'm out the door. I can have them both installed before dark.

Well, it's obvious to me...
Its a "skyhook"
This is the infamous skyhook that so many apprentices have been sent in search of! Though you are the first person to actually find one that I've ever heard of.
Congratulations!

Any signs of a ladder close to it? - might it have been the hand-hold for someone who found a need to be up on the roof on a regular basis?
Or ....
... one of those pranks by a someone having a great laugh about now .....

I kinda figgered you all would have some fun with the towel rack. Now that I have started an AS storm, I may be afraid to remove it .
Do you think it would affect fuel mileage?

I'm glad to see that you didn't also find a toothbrush holder, toilet paper holder, and magazine rack up there, too.

NO, I know what it really is!!!!!!!
That fridge cover is really hard to hold steady while installing. the PO put the handle on it to hold it in place while riveting it on to the AS...
Once on, He liked the look, and left it....
Wonder if I could fit something like that on the new vents covers I have to put on my AS...
Sure would make putting them on easier...!!!!!!!!
