I have been prepping the roof for new vents and A/C, etc. I am also going to be using the Bus Kote system. Question is, would you install all the accessories, seal them and then apply the Bus Kote, or the other way around? I cannot find any info as to how Dicor and other sealants would adhere to the Bus Kote. Would hate to do it backwards and cause more work!
Thanks!
I have not used buskote with an A/C remove/replace but have done 2 roofs with vents and other penetrations. Prep and seal the roof with buskote as the final step. I believe that buskote makes their own sealant but I have used Trempro and Parbond. On one roof ('46 Spartan) it took a lot of prep, I DA'd it with 150 grit and then primed with some Rustoleum aluminum primer I had. 2 coats of buskote and it looks great and is staying dry.
Good luck, Mark D
Ok. So it looks like I could do it either way. Right now I have everything completely removed including the old fridge vent, antenna, etc. I plan to patch those areas (going to a 120/12v fridge) and will add new “junction boxes” for future solar and some sort of data input. I will be running conduit in the walls to the electrical closet for future wiring.
I like the idea of the bus Kote being the final continuous product so that’s probably the way I’ll go.
Thanks for all your input! Love this forum!
