Aluminum roof vent castings

Another question for the group: My recently purchased 1976 29 foot rear bath has 3 cast aluminum vent cover housings. I removed and carefully replaced them all with new vent boots and screens as one was beginning to seep water when it rained. I noticed that each Aluminum housing had a small tapped hole near the top opening and wondered if I might be missing a cap of some sort as this might be an attaching point.

Anyone with a clue about these holes might be kind enough to comment.

This forum is a great resource...thanks

The only holes in the sewer vent pipe covers are at the bottom.

There are 6 mounting holes, and 2 drain holes. The drain holes must be facing towards the ground.

Any other holes had to be added by a previous owner, for some reason.

Thanks Andy

I wonder if the previous owner tried to attach some kind of UV shade over the top of the castings to keep the sun off the rubber boots to prolong their service life? At any rate, I'm glad you set me straight.

Thanks
