Aluminum air conditioner shrouds
I recently purchased a motorhome, do not have procession yet so I'm not entirely sure make and model of the air conditioners. My question is, does anyone know where I can get aluminum shrouds? My goal is to have a polished airstream and white or black air con's will be unacceptable. I'm willing to buy brand new units, just the shrouds, or even get some custom made( this might be a cost id prefer not go with yet)
Id be looking at lowest profile if going new like 8" tall?
Not sure if I'm vented or non vented. If someone could tell me

You'll probably end up having to custom make them, I've never seen one that wasn't "homemade".

Never seen an aluminum shroud. Have seen several nicely painted with shinny aluminum paint. I would think proper preparation is the key to keep the paint from peeling off.

I have painted two with silver paint followed by a clear coat. The paint holds up well. One of the shrouds didn't, but that had nothing to do with the paint.

I've seen shrouds painted silver and they look very slick. No doubt a lot less costly than having one custom made.

Custom Aluminum Shroud
If you can get me some specs on your dimensions, I can get you a quote to make an aluminum shroud.

I'll hopefully have the motorhome end of January. It's going to be 2500-2600 mile trek I hope all goes well!
It seems amazing how such a simple item like aluminum shrouds could be overlooked by industry/end user.
Papa bear I will have to get in touch with you 100% I've been putting more thought into it and quite frankly I would be happy if these were made with 4-8 panels ( reduce shipping costs)where a guy could just rivet then together and louvers could be cut in for a nice custom look

The plastic shrouds are forgiving when they hit a low hanging limb, a bird, a rock, etc. Not so with Aluminum.
Something hits my trailers shrouds every year or two. I have replace a few after they became brittle and cracked. One shroud totally disappeared going down the road.

With the custom shrouds be careful of wind noise and rattles that will be heard while on the road. Better to paint the fiberglass.

I have been toying with this idea for some time now. I have the 8" tall Mach 8 heat pump. I retrofitted it to my 1979 Moho and it was an easy swap. Seems to perform well. My thoughts are to make aluminum panels for both sides and rivet it over the plastic shroud. The front and top can barely be seen from the ground and not changing them would greatly simplify the fabrication. I would paint the plastic that remains exposed. If the work you do affects the louvers and air flow you could be opening a can of worms. Good luck and let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

Better yet, take one of the shrouds to a sheet metal shop to be used as a pattern.

What is the service life of these air cons? Are the easily rebuilt? I've literally never even stepped inside a motorhome or much of trailers even.green around these toys for sure! So if I spent $1000 per shroud I'd want longevity for sure. I'm not worried about noise or overheating purely looks and function when parked
