Cleaning chrome

We have noticed a yellowish film forming on our rear bumper and tail light cowlings of our 2011 Flying Cloud. The bumper appears to be chromed steel and the cowlings appear to be chromed aluminum. The yellowish film can be scrapped off using one's finger nail, but it is not easy to remove otherwise. I,ve tried chrome cleaners, a plastic scrapper and cleaner wax. None of those put a dent in it. I don't think there is a clear coat on these parts, and if there is a clear coat, i don't think it's old enough to be deteriorating into a yellowish film. So, what is it, and how do i get rid of it ?

Same issue on my 2011 International, but like Joanbob27, no solution at the moment.

Why not send pictures to Airstream and ask for their assistance?

I contacted airstream, as suggested, with a description of the problem and pictures. They responded with a procedure to strip and re-apply the clear coat. I'm not sure if this is the best solution, since i'm not convinced the clear coat is damaged. I will continue to seek other solutions, and use airstreams procedure as a last choice. (or, maybe i should just head over to ohio, and let airstream take care of it.)

Airstream's suggestion seems a little over the top. My unit is in storage now but I'll continue the search next Spring. Thanks for your efforts.
