Front Banana Wrap Replacement

Hello all, my old 76 Argosy is in need of new wrap in the front. the old aluminum is badly dented. Has anyone used the newer plastic corner pieces from the newer trailers? It would seem to me that they would be more durable from all the rocks etc. that assault the front of the trailer going down the road. I don't believe the older style aluminum ones are still available. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, George

The original metal banana wraps have not been available for some time.

The plastic replacements are holding up very well.

We always have them in stock.

Thanks Andy, Are there any issues with the plastic. It seems thicker than the aluminum and taller. What's the best way to trim the plastic if need be? Also, this being an Argosy, the shell is supported in the front by the steel plate. the rivets that held this wrap to the shell were just common pop rivets. Is this correct? Thanks, George

The plastic banana wraps install the same way as the metal.

You trim the plastic with tin snips.

Pop rivets hold them in place.

Paint them whatever color you wish, but first prime them.

Old posts become new again. Finally ready to paint. Can I paint those plastic bananas with Krylon spray paint or do i need the stuff made specifically for plastic. The rest of the wrapping I painted Kylon leather brown years ago and it has held up well. Thought I would spray the whole lower section again. Thanks, George.

Using Krylon is fine, but put a couple of coats of clear over the color coat.
