I am finishing the shell off floor replacement, when I pulled the wheel wells - the caulking that the factory used was still very flexible and sticky after 41 years. What should I use to re-seal the wheel wells to the wall and frame when I replace them? Any ideas what AS used originally?
Do I use Vaulkem between the floor channel, belly pan and shell?

Kevin,
I used Vulkem. It stays workable for a long time, does not harden as quickly as Sikaflex.
My Airstream also had a coating of vehicle seam sealer over the wheel well joints, where they meet the side skin.
I just did my wheel wells to keep dirt and water fron getting inside. I removed the wheels one at a time for safety and jacked one side up right under where the shock attaches to the axel frame. Cleaned everything really well and used vulkem 616. It got into the crevices sealing and adhering very well, easy to work with.
