Belly Band.

I have a '78 31' Excella. See photos.

Try www.inlandrv.com. Then click on PARTS and then 'find' INSERT. That will get you to the 1/2 inch blue insert that goes around the vinylclad aluminum band. A 50' roll is $30. The 11/8 inch wide 50' roll for the bottom rub rail is $40. If you are talking about the 81/4 inch wide vinyl clad aluminum blue band, good luck. Those are not available as far as I know.

If the wide vinylclad is in bad shape, you can paint it with Rustoleum Royal Blue. It is a perfect match. I used a 4" smooth foam roller and it did a credible job. Others may disagree.

Cool Balley band

Vic,

Thanks for the response! I am talking about the wide band, but I have the 3M vinyl cutting equipment so I can reproduce the stripe if I can get the dimensions. The stripe I am looking for is the light blue one you removed from your trailer.

Your trailer looks awesome and has me excited to finish mine!

Is your trailer hard to keep that shine? How do you do it?

Thanks!

Jim

Jim,

Is this the stripe you are talking about? If so, I can measure mine this weekend and let you know then.

As you can see, mine is in bad shape and I plan to remove it like Vic did.

Cool Belly band

Craig,

Thats exactly it! This forum is a fantastic way to learn things about our A/S, thanks for the photo. I would appriciate it if you can mearure yours for me. If you would like I can see how much it would cost to send you a replacment stripe. I have a sign company I do a lot of buisness with, he may give me a good price.

Thanks again!

Jim the wide blue stripe is nowhere near the belly of the Airstream.

Measuring the blue stripe would entail guessing how much of it is actually under the extrusion molds at the top and bottom of it. It is an aluminum overlay piece. or Do you want the measurements of the white accent stripe which is apparently a decal on top of the wide blue band? My 74 Excella thankfully does not have that 'bad boy' stripe applied.

Then there are the narrow blue vinyl inserts which are slotted into the extrusion mouldings.

depending on if you are wanting to keep to exact originality or not, if you search "tape striping" and tape stripe, etc on EBAY you can get rolls of really nice 3" wide tape to fit that area. I did mine in a different color than the original, that did match the other colors on my motorhome. Got 150 foot roll for 30 bucks. Looks really good, and was not too hard to accomplish.

Craig,

Have you had a chance to measure the stripe on your trailer yet. The one in the picture is exactly like mine.

Thanks for your help!

I was just getting online to respond!

The stripe is almost exactly 1 1/4", with a 1/4" strip on top and bottom.

Hope this helps. Let me know how you make out. And yes, let me know how much to replace the stripe - I may be interested.
