'64 Banana Wrap
The two front banana wrap pieces on my '64 Safari have run into just about anything they could find. They are beyond shot. So, I finally decided it was time for me to replace them. I called inland last week and ordered them. In that Inland is in the same state I was wondering why I didn't have them yet so I called today and got my bubble burst. It seems that all they have are now made of fiberglass. Well those won't polish up like the rest of my Airstream, so I really don't want them. I cancelled the order which they had never sent anyway. I really don't want to give up and install fiberglass.
Does anyone know where I can find aluminum banana wraps for a '64?

Yup I've seen that before! I couldn't buy them either. Mine were just like yours. I reformed my curb side with a sandbag and a leather faced body hammer. Street side was to far gone, had a guy form a new one on an English wheel. A wheel should be fairly easy in your area, try a custom bike or car shop.

Colin Hyde had private messaged me about straightening those out with his English wheel so I've already sent them off to him. Hopefully they will come out as good as he says they will. Getting them off really wasn't as bad has I had feared.

Colin Hyde is mostly done with the banana wraps. He sent me some pictures and I'm absolutely amazed. This man is a miracle worker. I really didn't believe these were fixable, but look at the before and after pictures. I also included a picture of the master at his English Wheel.
When I get them back and install them, I'll post more pictures.

The banana wraps showed up yesterday and I had them and the new belt installed by sundown, almost. I went back and finished up in the light this morning. They are beautiful! Look at the before pictures and then look at these! What a difference! Colin Hyde truly worked miracles. They actually fit for the most part without a bunch of fighting. That can only be done by someone who has another correct one to compare too. Otherwise, it would be impossible to know how they are supposed to be. Especially with as bad as these were.
The banana wraps are just in time for the Pismo Beach Rally. Now people won't be wondering what I ran into.
