Steps won’t flop down

The folding steps on our 2020 Globetrotter23 are stuck in the up position. I can lift the latch, but the steps will not fall. I am mindful of the many pinch points and the possibility of getting injured when they do swing down. It is possible that road dirt and grit are blocking the free movement of the mechanism. Thoughts on how to proceed? Thanks for your help!

And then exercise it repeatedly. It will free up, and you’ll build up a comfort level with the pinch points. It’s harder to draw blood than you think (and this is coming from a master of self-injury).
