New Steps Broke

Only had our AS 5 months and already the steps have broken. One of the fasteners sheared and it looks like the only thing to replace it with is the oem hardware. I've got some coming but was wondering if anyone else has had problem and what you did. Is there alternative hardware, cheaper?

First pic is broken hardware with me sticking a bolt through hole temporarily. I can't close steps.
Second pic is what the hardware should look like (taken from other side).

If you're in an emergency situation (gotta get home!), you can replace that with a flat-countersunk or possibly panhead bolt. Take all the parts to the hardware store and they can get you set up.

To answer your question, we had the same issue......on our 1973 model! Airstream brought back those 1970's steps a few years back in some of the newer models. I love 'em. Looks like that bolt just failed. Stuff happens. Maybe the replacement they ship you will be of better quality.
