Chrome Paint

I recently painted my hot water heater exterior acces door with chrome paint that i bought at a auto parts store. the paint didn't stick very well. I see that online there is chrome paint that comes in 3 parts. A primer, chrome color, and a sealer. Has anyone tried these? Or can someone reccomend something that works. I also was thinking about painting my weel rims chrome if there is something that works well.

Best advice I can give is to use primer and paint from the same company. Many auto paints are 3 parts - the primer, actual paint, and then a clear coat or sealer. Prep is key as well. Sand throughly to remove any loose paint, scale, and rust. Then wash to remove the dust and let dry completely. Follow the directions on the paint cans faithfully. Not all paints have the same dry and re-coat times. Primers are different from the paint which is differnet from the clear coat.

I've used DupliColor with good results.

The paint always sticks for me. Try wiping the door with lacquer thinner on a rag to remove any wax or grease. Then sand with 360 wet or dry paper, fine steel wool or Scotchbrite pad. Wipe again with thinner and paint 2 or 3 thin wet coats. It should look like new and the paint should stay on forever.
