Broke my step bracket
I've done myself in breaking my steps on return from a rally. https://www.airforums.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif I parked outside my house to unload the trailer. Across the street the neighbor had a tree trimming crew working and asked me to move over so he could get a truck out on the road. Well, I moved over, but managed to hit a large boulder in my yard that was next to the road. Upon inspection, I managed to break off completely the step bracket that holds up the steps. The steps themselves were OK and worked fine. With the bracket broken, the steps could not be retracted upward and lock in place. My question is can I purchase the bracket only, without buying the complete step setup? I'm thinking that if I can replace the bracket only, things will work as before without having to buy the whole step unit. Here are some pics of the damage. I called Northwest Airstream Adventures and sent the same pics and they quoted me $820 to replace the top bar and nothing else. I may be wrong, but I think I can replace the bar myself if I can order the bar separate. Any suggestions on what problems I may encounter with this? The damage to the underbelly was minor and no punctures to the aluminum. Please advise.
Thank you

Try Out of Doors Mart. They list lots of parts for those steps.

Airstream part 100298 is the holding bracket. Woodland has it for $138. Not sure that’s the broken part.

I get the chills thinking about the problems a boulder like that would cause anywhere near my driveway.
You have some good suggestions above!

Hi
They did in the past have a *lot* of parts. Since they sold out to the new owners, who knows what's still in stock?

Happened to us too!
We purchased the bracket from Woodland Airstream and received it quickly. We didn't think to order the springs also--so be sure to do that!

First, I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. All were very helpful. I did end up ordering the bracket from Woodland Airstream parts dept. I am now waiting for delivery. In the mean time, I've been able to successfully remove the broken bracket parts and the screws and the springs, which were still intact. When the new bracket arrives, I'm hoping it will not be too hard to reinstall it and be back in business. I'm a little worried the bracket will be out of position after the impact of breaking, causing a different position of the reinstalled bracket. We'll see!
Anyway, if successful reinstallation happens, you will have saved me over $800 vs going to my Airstream service dept., and I don't even consider myself a DIY person!
Thanks everyone!

I've spoken with their parts department many times since the change of ownership and ordered from them many times. So far the parts department appears to be carrying on as before.
Early on in their ownership I spoke to the new GM, and he mentioned that one of the reasons they bought the dealership was the parts department and how well it served the Airstream community, and said how it only further serves everyone's interests to continue it moving forward.

Others have had some of the bolts on the steps come loose, even fall out and many used locktite when reinstalling to keep it from happening again.

^This!!
We lost some hardware somewhere this Spring. The only missing part was the countersunk washer. I needed the steps to be operational before Woodland could deliver. So, I printed a replacement part in polycarbonate. That was nearly a month ago. The new parts arrived but I think I’ll carry them with me until the PC fails.
