While I am not trying to ruin business for the inventor/supplier of the StepStick, I have found a cheaper alternative to be used on the fly. I just recently rebuilt my existing folding steps and replaced the outriggers. My AS is a 76 Excella 500 with the rear locking mechanism operated by a single knob and lever on the right side of the door. That post can be read here.

One thing that I noticed is the notches for the bottom step hangers in the top step get worn and the bottom step does not hang directly vertical but leans underneath the top step doe to those notches being worn down by use and weight. That StepStick was created to keep that from happening or to keep from making the notches deeper.
I kept looking at how to fill in the notches and with not having the use of a Tig welder to fill in the notches with any aluminum filler, I found that 4 zip ties folded in half and fed up through the bottom of the pivot pins on the bottom step hangers fills those notches correctly. 1 zip tie will be at an angle and the other will be vertical on each side. This stiffens the bottom step and keeps any metal against metal wear from happening. This will also make the bottom step sit in the proper location when the steps were factory new.
