I plan to try either Griot's or Glare to seal it next time once I get it clean.

I have painted the trim on our '72, but it gets dinged easily on the rock guards. I end up touching it up at least once a summer. Any ideas on how to protect it? We have Walbernized last summer. I was thinking about spray clear coat....

I Walbernize once a year, even though water still beads. I find it easy to use and long lasting..

Slightly off topic but if the Alcoa coating is this fragile then should we also be concerned about what we use to clean the interior surfaces if they are aluminum? Mine need cleaning and I was going to use glass cleaner as other have suggested but would really be upset if this led to flaking.

For the inside panels I have found that a damp fibre cloth is all that is normally needed.

I used Walbernize for the first time the last two days after completing a 16,000 mile trip. Previously I have used regular auto wax and while we were traveling I used Griots or McQuires spray wax for their convenience. I’m pleased with how easy it is to apply and buff off but I was surprised by how liquidy it is and how quickly it separates requiring constant shaking. Now to see if it lasts any longer than the spray waxes.

I have used walbernize since I have owned my trailer. Once the Spring crap like poplar tails, yellow pollen and maple tree helicopters stop. She gets a thorough wash. Then a full walbernize. Top to bottom. She stays clean and shiny right the way through summer and winter. Good rains clean off dust and dirt and water beads nicely. It is a proven product when applied correctly. It takes time and elbow grease but well worth it.
I have always used WD40 for any sap, grease or road tar that makes its way on to my skin. Never had an issue with my clear coat other than the renounce corrosion around marker lights and small dings. That will be a job down the road to have it all treated at once.

Good to know about WD40 and Brackleen, thanks for these know-hows, much appreciated. Now I'm ready for some serious waxing.

First off, thank y'all for all the varying responses. Again, like everything else I've read about from tires to cleaning and waxing, there are nearly infinite opinions. I'm too ignorant to offer one.
I think I've learned that it's better to do something toward cleaning than to do nothing -- unless, of course, I do the wrong thing, then I'm in deep poop.

Walbernizer is the ticket . It works great on the towe vehicle as well especially glass .
Blue Coral soap from Walmart works very well . I use a soap cannon to apply the soap in even patterns from top to bottom . Rinses very clean with no streaks .
You can never over wax a unit . The manual does state to wash the unit every 4 weeks and wax at least twice a year .
The most you can do is keep the unit protected.
Don't fall into Ecopro or any BS protection plans as I did with our prior unit .
Upon 3 factory tours I've witnessed the employees applying Walbernize to each completed unit .
Viniger and water is used to remove any water spots first after the hurricane chamber.

Adjunct post: Griots clay mitt
For my once-a-year wash and wax marathon I use Griotts Clay Mitt and soapy water instead of actual clay to get the surface really clean and smooth prior to waxing (or whatever). With clay you wash, then clay, then wax. This eliminates a step and does a great job.
