upgrade clear coat on new trailer?

We are getting ready to take delivery of a new 2021 27FB Flying Cloud (our first Airstream) and one of the options that's come up is having the dealer apply eco pro in addition to the factory provided clear coat. It comes with a hefty price tag...$1500 (interior and exterior). We're told it protects the clear coat & aluminum without the need to wax it every few months and has an interior protection spray that completely disinfects your Airstream and stain guards it. 5 year warranty. Any thoughts? Is this worth it? Thank you.

If you need to disinfect a brand-new Airstream, then you've got some issues that an extremely overpriced product won't resolve.

All joking aside...based on my experience in the automotive coating and fluoropolymer coating industries, the claims that these products make are insidiously dubious. The aluminum on your trailer has a fluoropolymer layer (something akin to Teflon) which is relatively resistant to dirt, oxidation, and light abrasion. It is more durable than any coating that can be rubbed onto the surface.

The only function of this product is to increase dealer profit at your expense.

Welcome Aboard👍

Put the 1500 in a cookie jar and spend it on some Streaming things you decide you actually want or need.

^^^^ X2. Are they trying to sell you an aftermarket extended warranty too? Same category.

The folks above have nailed it. It’s a huge waste of money. We paid for it (only $900 - yes $1500 is a rip off) on our new Airstream International in April 2018. When we went back to the dealer in April 2019 to have an annual check up, we found they hadn’t even put the coating on that we’d paid for. The joke was on us.

Did you purchase from a "local" dealer? If so, did you go north or south to get there?
