Angry Tape Residue on Clear Coat

I was hoping for some advice on removing some tape residue from the clear coat of my AS. While I was on vacation my neighbor's weed eater kicked some rocks on the side of my AS and broke a window. They taped plastic over the broken window. The window is fixed now but the tape they put on left behind white residue.

Thank you!

It'll be interesting to see what other folks say, but basically what I'd think you'd need is a solvent that will dissolve the tape, but not the clear coat.

My suspicion is that the clear coat has some variety of acetone as a base. If so, it won't be harmed by mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol (or WD40 or creamy peanut butter). And those are the solvents I'd start with.

But, then, that's based on the assumption that the clear coat is acetone based. Let's hear from others.

Old fashioned liquid lighter fluid or Naphtha will disolve almost all adhesives without damaging the clearcoat.

Had the same question and called the factory. They told me to use mineral spirits. It worked great and did not effect the finish.
