Por-15 Question:
Is it ok to put this on previously painted surfaces, like the tounge/a-frame and the part of the frame that sticks out the back to which the bumper is attached? I looked over the info at their website...seems like it is meant for "bare metal". no mention that I could find regarding using it on previously painted areas that have a few rust spots. I wouldn't want it to just flake off if it doesn't stick to paint.

Chuck,
I'll be using this shortly..ordered some for my 64 GT..I'll be stripping the old rust/paint off to bare metal..
I do believe this process is the best for longevity..After all, this stuff isn't cheap..so why not take the time??
If you check my pictures, you'll see that it needs it~( before it gets much worse.)
As far as painting over the original paint?? I couldn't say what the results would be...Good question..

yeah, might as well....looks like I'm going to have some citristrip on hand anyway...  and its not like its a very big area.

found a "faq" page on their site, and they say it can be applied over existing paint, but is "best" if you don't...."bare metal" is what it is designed to protect. ok, fine.
so...where can you buy it? is it only available on their website? they don't seem to have a retailer's list...If I'm going to do it this weekend, there's no time to wait for mail-order. Of course, it doesn't have to be done this weekend, but I'd like to just get it out of the way...

Por -15 LOVES rust and loves to stick to it. So in my view if you paint it over paint, I would at least rough it up. What I did on my 75 was used it to coat rust, then top coated everything. Turned out great.

Chuck,
Call their 800 number and ask for a retailer in your area.
And be sure to get their Marine Clean, and if you're going over any "unrusted" metal use their Metal Prep. Get plenty of throw away brushes.

And wear rubber gloves when you apply it. If you get on you, it's real hard to get off.

Yep...I wore a silver sparkle handprint on my thigh & various glittery splotches for about 10 days....NOTHING I tried, took it off.
