Pitting/Chafing around electrical plug

Hello All, Newbie here and I'm looking at a 2010 with some pitting/chafing around the rear electrical plug in. The owner mentioned this was due to the electrical current. Is this common? Should I be concerned? How easy or difficult is this to fix?

Thanks for your help.

My initial guess would be galvanic corrosion, but it could be something different. Without seeing it we can only speculate. Do you have any photographs?

Are you seeing oxidation/corrosion on the aluminum skin around the plug?

Need pics.

I agree with Kevin, hard to tell, but sure does sound like corrosion. If you can share a pic, folks here could tell pretty quick.

IIRC units around 2010ish had some issues that sounded similar around the running lights. Not inconceivable that the issue was limited to the running lights alone.

Sorry, I don't have any pics. Caught it during a walk through and it's not shown on the original pics. After doing some research, I conclude that it was plugged in for a long period of time without proper grounding which caused the pitting to occur. Thanks for your response.

Welcome Aboard👍

Like this?

Make sure the plug,(male&Female) clean & tight, use dielectric grease regularly. Make sure everything is off in the AS, including the converter/charger, to prevent sparks when connecting.
