Lower Trim Color on 2000 Excella

I was taking a break from snowblowing my drive yesterday and noticed that the lower molding finish on my Excella was peeling. Further examination seems to indicate that the "peeling" is nothing more than the original protective plastic coat over a faux stainless steel trim insert - or at least I think it is! We just purchased the trailer late this fall. With temperatures below freezing, I could only flake the plastic coating off. Complete removal will have to wait until Spring. The blue plastic looks just like the Airstream trim color. Please tell me if what I'm looking at is what I think it is. It'll look good as either faux stainless or blue - but with the coating coming off it'll probably wind up all stainless. I can't wait to start tinkering with the Excella but the sub-freezing temperatures dampen my enthusiasm somewhat!
