Liquid Glass

Many here are aware of what a fanboy I am of Liquid Glass. I’m paranoid about losing the plasticoat on my aging ‘90 Excella and I have applied Liquid Glass 2-3 times a year in the time that I have owned it. I believe it is an acrylic polymer and man does it ever work: it builds layer upon layer, no cracking, no yellowing - and it gets deeper and deeper. And now LG is no more, out of business.

If anyone else knows about another acrylic polymer that might compare to LG I would be most grateful to hear about it.

I’ve just finished applying a coat from my last bit of LG and this is how ‘ol Nellie looks tonight.

This turned up on an Ebay search. Is this what you use?

Might as well name it Liquid Gold for what they're asking in price.

Liquid Glass was the go to product for the Corvette guys in the 1980's. The Corvette Weenies moved on to other products. Apparently everyone else did too as the manufacturer of Liquid Glass has closed.

Suggest you look at the new Ceramic coatings now being offered. With a properly prepared surface the new Ceramics are far superior to anything offered in the past.

We applied Stewart Systems: Evershield Ceramic Surface Treatment to a couple of areas for testing. Too early to tell. Good luck.

I enjoy the results of NuFinish.
The orange bottle stuff, and it is an acrylic polymer.

John and Vicki, like you I am a fan of Liquid Glass. But since it is no longer produced I will use something else. Recently here on the Forum I saw a product called Rejex mentioned. It is described as a polymer sealant. It is a bit pricey - but good things are not usually cheap. Lewster uses it and gave it good marks for longevity and shine. It gets praise from others as well. This will be the product I try. Application sounds similar to Liquid Glass.

We have switched to Rejex in lieu of NuFinish. It clouds a little less than NuFinish but makes the drips wipe off a lot easier. We’ll see.

Liquid Glass

Rejex has been around the aviation world for years. It was pricey so I only used it in on my leading edges. Bug splats wipe off with a damp cloth. I applied it twice a year. Used NuFinish on the rest of the plane.

RejeX is available from some outlets for far less than others. You might find this source acceptable:

Had my first experience with Rejex yesterday. I applied it to my '19 Globetrotter 27'. It goes on easy. Maybe even easier than Liquid Glass. And it wipes off so easy, as well. I used old terry cloth towels for both steps. Now, if the water beads up and the bugs wash off easier, it will have lived up to its claims !!! I'm betting that it will according to the other positive user comments from this forum. (I probably should have started a new thread on Rejex.)

Steve - I have a 16 oz bottle and used about 1/3 of it. This product really goes on nicely !

How bout star brite marine polish? I have been using it for a few years, they recommend 2 applications within 30 days, and seems to hold up quite a long time. They also say it has built in uv protection, and seems to have slowed my clearcoat fade. Apply to entire side, or entire trailer, including glass, and wipe off.
