Fix Scrathes with Nail Polish ?

Recently I got a nasty scratch on the side of my 19 CCD. (7 year old and a scooter....) Has anyone tried using nail polish on scratches? I tried it on a very small test area with good results... However, I am dubious as to the longer term results.

Thanks

Fingernail polish is a good quick fix. Nail polish produces a hard finish and the brush makes it easy to apply. The polish doesn't have any UV inhibitors so at some point you may need to reapply.
