Excella - Patch in Matte Clear coat
Hi, all, I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this, having read most of the threads regarding clear coat, but there's no way to touch-up the Plasticote matte-finish clear coat on a 1994 Excella, right?
We had some peeling on the endcaps so I stripped the front, polished it very lightly to get a similar grain look, and then coated with Nyalic. The result looks pretty good but is a different sheen and slightly different color than the original. I'd be fine with this for the endcaps and above the awning but there are a few small areas on the side where the clear coat has also failed.
I'd hoped not to need to strip the whole trailer as the clear coat below the belt line is in really good shape, but it doesn't appear there is a Plasticote equivalent that yields a similar matte finish and warmer color than the bare aluminum.
I'm willing to try a product if you think there is one.
Otherwise, it looks like I'm headed toward stripping the whole thing and using a process similar to the endcap or leaving it bare and polishing it (though probably not to a mirror).
