I just completed 85% of the clearcoat removal on my
1965 Caravel. I used AutoStrip and Aircraft Remover in spray cans from KleanStrip purchased at Walmart. I worked the areas in 12" x 18" sections at the most and after three minutes, removed the clearcoat with a 3" wide plastic putty knife and paper towels.
All the residue was collected in plastic bags.
I rinsed the trailer down using a sponge and brush with clear water and then scrubbed it down with a 1:5 ratio of muratic acid and water. Thoroughly rinsed the acid off and diluted the runoff.
The surface has a significant shine to it and a sample polish area gives me great encouragement.
