I assume you are referring to the inserts in the middle of the decorative, horizontal bands that wrap the circumference of the unit. If I am correct, yes, I have had some fading in some sections. I don't believe that these flexible plastic bands have a clear coat as the aluminum panels have. Not to worry, if the aesthetics of the fading bands are causing you anxiety - and I understand that feeling - the band inserts are easy to replace and inexpensive.
