Inland -Andy, what year did A/S switch from Plasticote to clearcoat finishes?

Plasticote and clearcoat are one in the same. Just 2 names for the same thing.

However, the prefinished metal that Airstream is using, started with the 98 and 99 models. That new style finish cannot be applied in the field.

It worked great the spots on the side where the awning straps wore off the clear coat look great. The spots on the front and reat top (aka nose) look good. If you email me I'll send a few pictures. I have not taken time to learn how to load pictures on the site. There are a few guy on here with much more experience in this matter than me so read their post too.

I have a 2003 Classic with a couple of places where the coating has come off. They are about 2-3 inches wide and 10-12 inches long. This unit is originally from Arizona and had these spots on it when we bought her. She was hail damaged-- very few marks but none at the pealing sites. This is something I will have to address this spring because it really distracts from the look.
