Question Argosy Vinyl Insert

Where could I find orange 5/8" vinyl insert for my Airstream Argosy? I am looking for around 250' of it. My old one faded in the sun.

The orange beltline and rubrail insert material is available through Airstream. Some Airstream dealers may stock it, but most will need to order the material. The most recent part numbers that I have seen are:

Part #201417 (1/2") Orange beltline
Part #201418 (1 1/2) Oranges beltline

When I purchased the new inserts for my Minuet, I believe that it was offered in 50' rolls by the Airstream parts store at the WBCCI International Rally.

Good luck with your coach!

Kevin

Hello alexzero13 -- and welcome to the Forums. 5/8" inch?? Are you talking about for the inside or outside of your Argosy? I think the outside is quite a bit wider than that. The inside trim always has been a creamy off-white -- it's called 'insert nosing' -- see Airstream Parts Sale Inland RV Center, Inc. (951) 734-8130

On the outside the rubrail is at the junction of belly & sides; the beltline is around the middle of the trailer at chest height -- each of them are different widths. I am pretty sure you don't want 250' of it either! For the outside, call OASIS R.V. CENTER, INC. - Home -- good prices, quick mail-out service -- explain it to them and they'll be able to help you.

There are two sizes on the Argosys.
The "beltline" is the wider. It is located at the bottom of the trailer.
The "rubrail" is in the middle of the trailer. It is narrower.
I got some from Oasis RV. Shipped for half the price of other dealers.
The rest of mine came from the Airstream parts outlet at JC.
It is widely available and relatively inexpensive.

This is a picture of a small piece of it

I measured all three and they all showed up to be 5/8" including the one around the roof airconditioner

It seems every Argosy has it's own set of rules. I got my "two"widths of orange vinyl insert from my local Airstream repair man. He ordered it for me at a much lower price than some other places. I'd like to see pictures of your Argosy. I have seen Argosy MH's that look like my trailer, but I've yet to find a trailer that looks like my 78. The middle insert is much smaller than that bottom insert.

Alex:

Pattersontoo has his beltline and rub rail reversed, I think. Canoestream has it right. They are both right when they suggest OASIS.

Your photo and mention of “air conditioner” are going to confuse a lot of people. The only vinyl inserts I know of are the cream coloured ones inside and the rub rail and belt line outside. None of them are less than an inch.

The small piece of orange I have from my original BELTLINE is
1 and 1/8”, or 9/8’s if you like.

Talk to Oasis RV's parts department -- even over the phone they will know exactly what you need. 1-800-658-5863. This dealership is one of the most reasonable I know!

Either rubrail, beltline or insert nosing may need the backside lightly sanded a bit to fit freely into the aluminum extrusion. Using some silicon 303 Aerospace Protectant to lube before you insert will make it easy on you. Each end will need to be riveted to prevent contraction with heat and aging of the plastic.
